| Information: | Robert was born inLongford on 30 October 1878. Prior to the war, Pte McGarry was employed as an engine driver, and had been made a widower. He enlisted in Helena Vale, Western Australia on in September 1914, but had 6 years experience with the Royal Engineers Volunteers in Scotland. Pte McGarry embarked for the front from Fremantle, Western Australia, on board 'HMAT A50 Itonus' on 22nd February 1915. |
