Michael was born in Longford town on 13 December 1898. He enlisted in March 1916 and was held in reserve until 1917.

Michael married Bessie Boylan on the 23 August 1918, in St. Mel's Cathedral. He died as a result of a brain tumor in 1948. 

 His brother Thomas, was also an enlisted soldier, but died in 1919*.

Notes: *Michael died one day before Thomas's 29th anniversary.
