Information:

Michael was born on or around the 10 May 1897 in Longford. He is one of a large family, and appears to be the youngest of a set of four brothers. At least two of them, John Joseph and Thomas also served in WW1. 

Michael enlisted in Ballinasloe with the Connaught Rangers. Both he and his brother Thomas enlisted in Ballinasloe, served with the same unit and were killed in action on the same day - 7 December 1915 - at Salonika. Michael was aged just 18 and Thomas aged 21 years.

 

Parents Names: Son of John Hayden and Mary (née Tilson), Chapel Lane.
Notes: Had a number of brothers and sisters including: Patrick, Mary, John Joe and Elizabeth.
