Information:

Patrick was likely born in Balbriggan on or around the 5 March 1899 (registered in Balbriggan supplemental register 25 Jun 1915); his father was Patrick Doyle, a soldier from Longford town, and his mother Catherine Halpin from Drogheda. By 1908 sadly, Catherine had died and Patrick Sr had returned with his family to Longford, where he married Patrick Jr's stepmother.

Patrick enlisted with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, likely in 1918, but was discharged 10 May 1918 on medical grounds - he was awarded the Silver War Badge; it is likely that he was admitted to the District Asylum sometime after that, where he died in February 1918.

Patrick's father also served with the British Army in the 2nd Boer War, WW1 and India.

Parents Names: Son of Patrick Doyle, Burke's Yard and Cathering (née Halpin - deceased). Stepmother was Alice (née Mullan)
Notes: Patrick was shortly after dismissed from military service on health grounds in May 1918 and later admitted to the District Asylum, what is now St. Loman's Hospital, Mullingar. On the morning of the 8th February 1919, at about 7am, Patrick escaped from the hospital; he was found later that day in a drain nearby; the combination of exposure to cold temperatures led to his death.
